PPDNKK successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle petrol

Pasir Puteh - Office of Domestic Trade , Cooperatives and Consumerism ( PPDNKK ) has foiled an attempt to smuggle petrol after raid petrol station in the village of Jerus , Selising , near here , last night.

General enforcement powers, Abdul Ghani Harun said, his strength 13-member guilty of spying over at 4:30 pm after receiving a complaint from the public .

He said that at 9 pm, enforcement surrounded the suspect , who was filling petrol RON95 to the barrel, which occupies space in the car.

" During the raid , two cars, a Proton Iswara filling petrol into the car but we only managed to cordon off one car only, while the other car sped towards Kota Bharu .

"He tried to accelerate the car to get out of the enclosure , but bumping into our vehicles. The suspect ran off and left her car, " he said.

The results of the raid , he said, officers found 18 barrels , each containing 30 liters of petrol worth about RM1 , 000 and nine empty barrels that had not yet filled.

He said that he believed the fuel was to be smuggled into Thailand and a second raid on Saturday night at the gas station just after dealing with a similar case 25 September last year.

" We seize the gas station for some time and was being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961. Station operators can be fined RM100, 000 for the first offense and RM250 , 000 for the second offense .

" Smugglers are looking for stations that can conspire with even relatively far away from the Kelantan - Thailand border , " he told reporters .

Abdul Ghani said he regretted that the operators did not have a social responsibility when working with smugglers bring the subsidized petrol to neighboring countries.

The price of the subsidized RON95 petrol is RM2.10 per liter compared to the price at RM4.70 per liter neighboring countries , which are of interest smugglers profiting more .

" According to the rules of public consumption, petrol station operators can not sell or connive with smugglers to sell it in neighboring countries not to mention the quantity of it , " he said.
