Chief Fire and Rescue Station Pasir Puteh, Wan Baijuri Wan Hassan said , shop houses involved are stores, plastic stores , computer stores , shops selling scarves, television repair shops and furniture stores .
He said 22 firefighters , including those from Kota Bharu and Machang with seven fire engines rushed to the scene after receiving a call at 8:30 pm .
" Five of them are single-storey shops built of wood and a two-level store , " he told reporters here today.
He added that all of the owners and the customers who are in the premises managed to escape , but the dealer failed to save properties as the fire spread quickly.
Meanwhile, the diner owner , Mohd . Shamsul Haimi Kassim , 31 , said that during the incident he was serving customers and heard several loud explosions .
" When I came out of the store, look at the fire began to burn the roof of the store and I could not do anything then ask the client out to save yourself , " he said.
